Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Stuart Heights Baptist Church, based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

A

We believe in the Authority of Scripture.
The Bible is inspired, infallible, and inerrant.
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness..." ~2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)

B

We believe in the Bodily Resurrection of Christ.
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. ~1 Corinthians 15:1-8 (ESV)

C

We believe in the Coming of Christ.
The personal return of and pre-millennial reign of Christ
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going. Thomas said to him, 'Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?' Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" ~John 14:1-6 (ESV)

D

We believe in the Deity of Christ.
He is fully God and fully man.
"But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom." ~Hebrews 1:8 (ESV)

E

We believe in the Exchange of Christ.
Man cannot save himself; the provision for salvation is complete and totally God’s.
"For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." ~2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV)
