The beginning of a new year. Resolutions. A fresh start. What a great time to dust off that old trumpet, guitar or whatever your instrument you play. Has it been a long time since you played? You aren’t alone. A lot of our church musicians played in college and let it go for many years. Let our worship teams help get you back to where you want to be. Maybe you still play often, just not at church. Will you join us?

Currently, several of our musicians travel between campuses to serve the church. One of our goals for 2019 is for musicians to be able to serve at one campus. In order to do that, we need more volunteers. Will you join us?

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.

1 Peter 4:10

We don’t have auditions. It’s not a make it or break it situation. But we do have evaluations. Joining is simple. Reach out to us and let us know you are interested. We will send you a few songs to learn. You will come sit in a rehearsal with us. Nothing too fancy. Just play along with us. Afterwards we will evaluate where you are musically. You may be ready to jump in Sunday morning. We may offer some pointers and invite you to come practice with us for a few weeks. The goal is to move you towards serving the church on Sunday mornings.

Community. It’s our small group. We meet each week to practice together. We often share stories from our week, share prayer requests and pray with one another. We get to make music together. It’s our people.

Psalm 150:3-5

Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

Psalm 33:3

We need musicians at all three campuses and all instruments. Maybe you want to get involved working in AVL (audio, visual and lighting). We can find a place for you there too. Get plugged in in 2019. It’s going to be a great year.

What All Is Involved?

Our bands rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Our rehearsals typically last around an hour. We use an online scheduler to schedule bands. You can download charts/sheetmusic there as well and usually get an audio sample.

We meet at 9am on Sunday mornings at the Hixson Campus and 8am at the Soddy Daisy Campus. We have a sound check that lasts around 45 minutes.

Do you have more questions? Shoot us an email or give us a call. We would love to chat.
